AMU Takes Off

By Bill Carter — October 29, 2012

March 2002 was the date of the first issue of AMU Magazine (AirMaintenance Update), published to inform, communicate and educate apprentices. engineers and the many people involved with the ever changing aviation maintenance and ground services industry. As publisher, I would like to thank the many people involved in the production and sales work that translated into the successful launch of the first magazine – these people include, but are not limited to: Anne Gervin, Phil Watson, Donna Felgar, Joanne Biln, Jennifer Raifteiri-McArdle, Gabriele Walkow, John Glavind, Joe Braz, Joe Chow, Keith Burke, Dave Snedden, Robert G. Horan, Ann Pearson and Doug Quiring. Thanks to my family who supported my efforts in launching AMU magazine and a special thank you to the many friends whose hangar doors have always been open to me for friendship and industry insights over many years. I also wish to thank the many aviation firms who supported our first publication through advertising – you gave us wings to move upward.

Our goal continues to be that which endeavors to assist the aviation industry in matters of safety, maintenance, engineering and service professionalism. We appreciate our Canadian, American and International maintenance communities, as well as the safety and regulatory aviation associations who contribute to the world class standards we support. Our magazine hopes to foster AME, A&P/AMT communications, acknowledges industry trade shows and encourages a growing aviation maintenance social network in ever changing media… the more we understand at ground level, the safer we fly… with this ambition AMU takes flight – we hope you find value and wisdom within our pages.
